Interlocking Karate Mats

If you’re in the market for an interlocking karate mats, Southern Cross Mats is the supplier you need. With karate mats in three different thicknesses we have you covered for your next training session. Before purchasing your next karate mat, we recommend that you determine your needs and requirements, as the intensity of the activities you undertake determine the thickness of the interlocking mat required.

What is an Interlocking Karate Mat?

An interlocking karate mat is simply a single mat, or a set of mats used in karate training and competitions. Our karate mats are made from EVA foam, an expandable foam which absorbs the impact from activities like jumping or falling. These mats use a jigsaw style of system, which allow the mats to interlock with each other, providing stability during your training session.

Interlocking Karate Mats

Here at Southern Cross Mats, our karate mats are interlocking jigsaw style mats which means they lock into each other for stability and comfort. Often known as karate jigsaw mats, these mats are easy to assemble and leave in place for ongoing sessions, and are also easy to pack away at the end of training or competition should you need to.

Interlocking Karate Mats Thicknesses / Sizes

Southern Cross Mats provides you plenty of options when purchasing your karate mats. Available in 20mm, 30mm and 40mm thicknesses and in a 1m x 1m sizing, we’ve got interlocking mats to cover your needs.

Generally speaking, the 20mm mats are used in activities where there is less muscle fatigue and jumping as well as minimal falling. Our 30mm mats are then used in activities where muscle fatigue starts to kick in, and there is more jumping and more potential for falling. The 40mm mats are often used when there is a lot of falling and rolling involved, such as judo, MMA and jiu jitsu.

As the intensity of your activities increase, so to should the thickness of the mats you use.

Karate Mat Uses

Our karate mats have been used across a range of karate disciplines including kyokushhin, shotocan, goju ryu, miyagi do and okinawan just to name a few. These mats are also suitable for a range of other martial arts including judo, wrestling, tae kwon do, kick boxing, kung fu and more.

If you need mats with added durability, we have a range of tatami mats that are also suitable for training sessions.
